Bike Wheels
General
As in the ski glide field, we continue to employ our habitual principles:
- Pragmatism;
- Indispensable reliance on Natura Laws;
- Non-use of “I believe”/”I do not believe” regarding to inanimate objects or processes;
- Broad spectrum of use;
- Simplicity;
Rims
Material
Carbon fibre as a rim material has allowed us to get a 395 gram 30 mm wide rim (24 mm inside), which is lighter than the much smaller and weaker alloy rims it replaces.
All commuting bikers from countries with winter well know about galvanic corrosion of aluminium rims (road salt).

Wide
Wide rims support the tire’s sidewalls better, allowing lower pressures without the tires folding over or burping. This dramatically increases stability and traction. This shows up as faster cornering and braking, better grip in all conditions.

As always, the chosen 30 mm rim’s wide is some kind of compromise regarding to “Broad spectrum of use”. Probably, for pure MTB use 35 mm wide is even better. Yes, probably, but just for MTB use. The 35 mm wide narrows the “Broad spectrum…”, because the minimum tyre dimension in this case will be too fat.
The 30 mm wide rim allows tyre dimension as 35-622 (28 x 1.35, 700 x 35C) – 68-622 (29 x 2.70). Our wheel with such tyres range can be part of:
- Commuting bike;
- Touring bike;
- Cycle-cross bike;
- MTB;
- And the trendy stuff - Gravel Bike;
Benefits of wider rims:
- Dramatically increased traction
- Reduced rolling resistance
- Less tubeless ‘burping’
- Stiffer, stronger wheel
- Lighter than most narrow aluminium rims
- Better braking control
- Improved flat protection
- More predictable feel
- You can run a lighter tire with similar durability
- Easy to mount tubeless with just a floor pump

Spokes
Round, J-Bend, double-butted spokes with brass nipples is a most pragmatic and reliable choice: Strong, cheap, generally available, did exist many decades and will exist for long time henceforth. Steel-brass (spoke-nipple) is a self-lubricated contact pair, which never seizes.
Hubs
Classical MTB XC hubs with aluminium 6061-T6 body. High quality labyrinth sealed Enduro Bearings with low-contact, low-friction seals. Two bearings in front hub and four in rear hub. The hubs are completely serviceable, but, we believe, you do not need it for a very long time.
